Why do customers choose TEGERA® products?

Customers choose protective gloves from the Swedish brand TEGERA® primarily because they guarantee the highest level of ergonomics on the market, armoured workmanship and real protection against hand injuries. Instead of competing with the lowest price, the manufacturer focuses on premium technology that drastically reduces the number of accidents in the workplace.

The main reasons why professionals choose the TEGERA® brand are:

  • Innovative cut protection materials

Traditional cut gloves can be thick and stiff. TEGERA® is revolutionizing this segment with its own CRF® (Cut Resistant Fiber) technology. These are advanced, ultra-thin composite fibers that provide extreme cut resistance (up to the highest classes E and F), while maintaining flexibility and tactile feel similar to that of a bare hand.

  • Outstanding ergonomics and "second skin" comfort

The Swedish brand is famous for its precise approach to the anatomy of the human hand. The gloves (especially from the TEGERA® Infinity series) are profiled to naturally mimic the position of the fingers at rest. Thanks to unique coating processes (e.g. super-soft foamed nitrile), hands get less tired during long hours of work, and employees do not take off their gloves to perform precision tasks.

  • Reduction of occupational diseases (VibroThan® and Poron® XRD)

Customers in the construction and heavy industry choose the TEGERA® brand because of its advanced health protection:

    • VibroThan® – a unique foam material used in anti-vibration gloves that effectively dampens tool vibrations, protecting workers from irreversible vibration assembly (HAVS).
    • Poron® XRD – an intelligent shock-absorbing foam on the back of the hand that instantly hardens on impact, dissipating up to 90% of kinetic energy.
  • Material Scouting and Uncompromising Quality

For the production of leather gloves, TEGERA® uses only selected, full-grain goat or cowhide leather of constant thickness, which guarantees the same durability at every point. All seams in models exposed to sparks and high temperatures are sewn with melt-resistant Kevlar® threads.

  • Dermatological safety (OEKO-TEX® mark)

Many models from the brand's portfolio are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified and accredited by the Skin Health Alliance. For users, this means that the gloves are completely free of harmful chemicals, fragrances and toxic catalysts that could cause skin allergies or irritation when the hands sweat.

What to look for when choosing TEGERA® products?

Choosing the right TEGERA® protective gloves is crucial to ensure maximum safety, durability of the equipment and comfort of work. Since the Swedish manufacturer offers hundreds of highly specialized models, it is worth analyzing a few key technical aspects before buying.

Here are the most important elements to pay special attention to:

  • Accurate Hazard Identification (Protection Class)

TEGERA® gloves are precisely designed for specific risks. Pay attention to pictograms and standards:

    • Mechanical hazards (EN 388): Check the levels of resistance to abrasion, tearing and punctures.
    • Cut protection (EN 388:2016 – letters A to F): Classes B to C are sufficient for light assembly work.
    • Thermal hazards (EN 407): When welding or soldering work, the parameter of resistance to contact heat (from 100 °C to 500 °C) and sparks is crucial.
  • Working environment and coating type (Grip)

The material with which the inner part of the hand is covered determines the adhesion and resistance to liquid substances:

    • Polyurethane (PU): Provides excellent feel and dexterity. Ideal for dry environments and high-precision work.
    • Foamed Nitrile / Nitrile: Shows excellent grip on damp and oily surfaces. In addition, it is a barrier to lubricants and technical oils.
    • Full-grain leather (goat/cowhide): Provides the highest mechanical resistance and fits perfectly in the hand, but is not suitable for working in full contact with liquid chemicals.
  • Weathering (Insulation against cold and moisture)

If you choose gloves for outdoor, construction or at heights in winter, verify the presence of protective membranes:

    • Check compliance with EN 511 (protection against convection and contact cold).
    • Pay attention to whether a given model has a windproof and waterproof membrane (e.g. Aquathan®), which prevents the hands from getting wet, and insulation made of original Thinsulate™ non-woven fabric.
  • Specialized Health Technologies (HAVS and Strokes)

When working with heavy equipment, conventional work gloves are insufficient. Look for dedicated solutions:

    • Vibration protection: If your employees operate impact hammers, compactors or grinders, choose models with a VibroThan® insert that protect against irreversible vibration assembly.
    • Impact protection: For installation and construction work where there is a risk of crushing your hands, choose gloves with Poron® XRD panels on the back of your hand.
  • Precise size selection

TEGERA® is famous for its perfect, Scandinavian cut. In order for the glove to perform its task, it must fit perfectly in the hand:

    • A glove that is too loose reduces the precision of the grip, can get stuck in machines or slip off when operating high-altitude equipment (e.g. carbines).
    • A glove that is too tight restricts blood circulation (which accelerates the freezing of hands in winter) and causes the material to wear off faster on the seams and fingertips.
    • The brand offers a very wide, numerical size range (usually from size 5 to 12), which allows for a perfect fit for each employee.

History of the TEGERA®

It all started in 1949 in the picturesque town of Leksand, located in the Swedish region of Dalarna. It was there that Valfrid Ejendal founded Ejendals. He noticed that the hands of workers in the local wood and heavy industry are statistically the most exposed to painful and exclusionary injuries.

Instead of offering the then common, stiff and mismatched work gloves, Ejendal opted for premium quality. He began designing gloves that not only protected against injuries, but were so comfortable that employees didn't feel the need to take them off. This is how the TEGERA® brand was born, and with it the pioneering "Ejendals Safety Concept", which aimed to reduce accidents at work to zero.

The 70s and 80s: Specialization and synergy with the JALAS®

In the 1970s, Ejendals began to dynamically develop and specialize its portfolio of TEGERA® gloves, dividing them into categories dedicated to specific hazards (thermal, mechanical and chemical).

During the same period, the company established a strategic cooperation with the Finnish manufacturer of advanced safety footwear – Urho Viljanmaa Oy (more widely known as JALAS).® This synergy has allowed Ejendals to become a complete supplier of limb (hand and foot) protection in the Scandinavian market, building a leading position based on uncompromising ergonomic standards.

2004: Premiere of TEGERA® PRO® and European breakthrough

A breakthrough in the modern history of the brand came in 2004, when TEGERA® presented the revolutionary TEGERA® PRO® line and began an intensive expansion to markets throughout Europe. Designed in collaboration with ergonomists, this collection mimicked the natural geometry of the resting hand. It has proven to the health and safety industry that ultra-modern synthetic materials can provide higher resistance and a better sense of touch than traditional leather.

2008: Formal unification and R&D development

In 2008, Ejendals officially took over the Finnish brand JALAS,® creating a strong capital group. For the TEGERA® brand, this meant a powerful development impulse. Leksand has developed state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) laboratories and advanced testing centers. Each batch of material began to undergo meticulous testing for resistance to abrasion, tearing and chemical ingress before it made its way onto the sewing lines.

An era of innovation: CRF® fibres and the Infinity series

In recent decades, building on Ejendals research, TEGERA® has brought solutions to the market that have set new standards in the industry:

  • CRF® (Cut Resistant Fiber) technology – proprietary, technologically advanced composite fiber. It provides armored levels of cut protection (up to the highest classes E and F) while maintaining the thickness and flexibility of the material close to the bare hand.
  • VibroThan® and Poron® XRD® materials – advanced vibration damping systems (protection against HAVS syndrome) and intelligent foams absorbing up to 90% of impact energy on the back of the hand.
  • TEGERA® Infinity collection – the introduction of a unique coating technology (m.in. foamed nitrile), guaranteeing unparalleled softness, grip and full dermatological safety confirmed by the OEKO-TEX® certificate.

TEGERA® today

After more than 75 years, Ejendals is still a family business, now managed by the third generation of the Ejendal family. Products with the TEGERA® logo protect the hands of millions of employees in Europe, North America and the Middle East. The heart of the brand remains Leksand in Sweden, from where every stage of design is rigorously controlled, guaranteeing users authentic Scandinavian quality.

FAQ – frequently asked questions about TEGERA® products

What does CRF® technology mean in TEGERA® anti-cut gloves?

CRF® (Cut Resistant Fiber) is a proprietary, technologically advanced composite fiber developed by the TEGERA® brand. It is characterized by the fact that while maintaining extremely low thickness and flexibility, it provides the highest levels of cut resistance on the market (classes D, E and F according to EN 388). Thanks to this, the gloves protect against the sharp edges of sheet metal, glass or steel ropes, without limiting the manual dexterity of the worker.

What makes the TEGERA® Infinity glove series stand out?

The Infinity collection is the flagship line of premium work and assembly gloves. It is distinguished by a unique technology of applying a protective coating (e.g. foamed nitrile), which makes the glove fit perfectly to the hand and acts as a "second skin" [1.1]. It provides excellent tactile feel, excellent grip on dry and greasy surfaces and high breathability, so your hands do not sweat during long hours of work.

How do TEGERA® anti-vibration gloves protect against occupational diseases?

Working with impact tools, pneumatic hammers or compactors generates vibrations that can lead to an irreversible vibration syndrome (the so-called HAVS syndrome or "white fingers"). TEGERA® specialist gloves are equipped with a unique VibroThan® foam layer. This material effectively dampens and absorbs high-frequency vibrations, protecting the blood vessels, joints, and nerves in the worker's hands.

What is Poron® XRD® technology and what does it protect against?

Poron® XRD® is a smart foam used on the back of TEGERA's advanced safety gloves. At rest, the material is soft and flexible, so it does not restrict hand movements. However, at the moment of a violent impact (e.g. hit by a hammer or a falling element), the foam structure immediately hardens, absorbing and dissipating up to 90% of the kinetic energy. This protects the bones and joints of the hands from serious bruises or crushes.

Are TEGERA® gloves safe for people with skin allergies?

Yes. Most of the modern synthetic and fitting models of the TEGERA® brand have the prestigious OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificate and the accreditation of the Skin Health Alliance. This means that the gloves are completely safe for dermatologically sensitive skin, free of harmful chemical catalysts, solvents, chromium VI and fragrances that could cause irritation and allergic reactions during operation.

How to choose the right size of TEGERA® gloves?

The Swedish manufacturer uses a very precise, numerical sizing (usually from size 5 to 12). To choose the right size, measure the circumference of the hand at the widest point (above the thumb, on the ankles) with a tailor's tape. A properly selected glove should fit snugly to the hand. Too loose reduces precision and grip, while too tight presses the hand, restricts blood circulation (which accelerates freezing in winter) and rubs faster on the tips of the fingers.

Which TEGERA® models are best suited for working at heights?

For work at height (e.g. in rope access or on mast structures), the models from the TEGERA® Infinity series (e.g. 8801 for general work or 8805R with cut protection) are ideal. They provide a secure grip on ropes and belay devices, and the elastic cuff prevents the glove from slipping. For the winter period, models insulated with a waterproof and windproof membrane (e.g. the popular TEGERA® 517) are recommended, which protect the hands from cooling while maintaining the mobility of the fingers.
